Update:
Havalah continues to do great ... and her labs continue to be stable. Plus she has been doing lots of fun normal kid things ..
Last week Havalah and her buddy Esther started ballet classes at the JCC. They've had two classes so far and Havalah loves it. She loves wearing her dance leotard and skirt and she does a great job listening to the teacher and attempting to follow directions. They learn very basic ballet steps and just do fun activities.
Havalah also started swim classes! I was a little nervous about how she would do because in the past she has been very hestitant about being in the water even when held but she did great. She went into the water by herself and stood and walked around independantly in water up to her neck. Again she does what the teacher asks and has a lot of fun. They aren't really learning to swim yet but it's more just about getting used to the water with the end goal being ducking their head underwater. So far they've been floating with the help of the teacher .. blowing bubbles and dunking their ears. Havalah clearly loves just being in the water though.
In other news ... Havalah got into our first choice for schools which was escuela Fratney. it's only about a black away from our house and it's bilingual. They take half kids who speak english as a first language and half that speak spanish as a first language and teach all of the kids both. It's 5 days a week full days ... which is a lot for a 4 year old but that's when school starts here in Milwaukee, and I think Havalah will really like it.
This weekend we are going camping with the COA which is the playgroup we go to. We'll be camping in cabins and they prepare all the food and have family activities during the day and camp fire songs and toasting marshmallows at night. It's a lot of the same families that we know from our playgroup, so it's a great chance to really get to know people even better, and Havalah will have a great time seeing her friends for a longer period and she's really excited about camping and being in the woods.
One of our local liver friends a little boy named Antonio who is almost three continues to have a very rough time. He's been in the ICU for about 3 weeks now .. and had been at the hospital quite awhile before then. He had a liver transplant back in Novemeber and he's just had a lot of complications since then. Being in the ICU is a lot harder than being on a normal hospital floor , not only because it means your child is very ill , but the rooms are smaller and full of equiptment and it's hard to get any sleep etc. We tried very hard to make the best of our time at the hospital - but it's impossibe to do that while in the ICU. It is a rough depressing place and it's hard to imagine staying sane and living there for weeks on end. Antonio has two brothers and a sister at home too missing thier mom and brother. This family has just gone through so much. Please keep them in your prayers.
