Update: Havalah has had a nasty cold since the beginning of the week, horrible sounding cough, and gobs of snot every time she sneezes, but doesn't seem to be feeling extra tired or lethargic from it, so it's not so bad I guess. We were a little concerned it would result in high labs this week but her labs actually looked pretty good, everything was normal but the ALT which was down to 43, which is not so bad. When we first started with the feeding tube I was confident she was gaining weight but now I am not so sure.
Earlier this week she threw up a few times when she got the 8 ounces of formula too quickly for her tummy to handle, and since we started giving her the formula she has been eating a lot less, AND has stopped drinking juice ... now she only wants water again. The tube came out late last night while she was sleeping, so I think we're going to give it a day or two before putting it back in. I feel bad reinserting it when her nose is so stuffed up. Otherwise we don't have much to update, I'm excited that it's March allready and that winter is almost done! |

Update:
I just finally got around to adding some extra validation to the guest book. It has been getting heavily polluted lately with various ads and spam. Hopefully this newest update will take care of that |

Update: Havalah is doing pretty good. Her cold is pretty much gone aside from an occasional sneeze and her lab numbers this week looked good. So good in fact that we get to go a whole two weeks before we have them done again hooray! And doctors appointments are down to once a month, again hooray! Steve has been bringing Havalah at night for labs the last 4-6 weeks or so. Since they check her prograf drug level the labs have to be done at 8, either in the morning or at night. Getting Havalah and I both ready and out the door early enough to drive to the hospital, deal with their mess of parking nad make it to the lab by 8, was just too much work for us late sleepers (Havalah and me both) So while I haven't actually been there for labs and can't be sure, second hand it seems like she's been getting a little more brave about it. We've been picking out some sort of toy or trinket each time from our arsenal of too many christmas gifts we have stored away, and before Hava and Steve leave for labs we talk about the fact that she's going to get a poke, but that afterwards she can have the new toy. When they get home she'll usually come tell me "Hava get a poke, mommy" and show me her bandaid. Maybe we're spoiling her by giving her something each time, but I want to help her to be less nervous/scared about going in for labs, and to make the whole experience less painful and unplesant and I don't have any other ideas.
We went back to Green bay this past weekend for my grandma's birthday party, but she was sick so it was postponed. It was still nice to be back though and Hava got to see all her grandparents, a few misc aunts and uncles and Haley her cousin that she adores. She really had a great time.
Havalah has been talking so much more ... she's almost getting caught up I think. She talks in sentences now but puts words in the wrong order, and isn't always understandable. Her new thing at home ... is to bring me presents all day. She'll come up and tell me in her high pitched sing song voice "a present a you mommy" and hand over a big envelope filled with her pretend fruit, or some of her clothes ... or a variety of items she found lying around.
yesterday we went to Chuck E Cheese with Becca and Mike and their little girl Esther. We sat in the toddler area and they had this cool slide that Havalah could climb up and go down all by herself. I think she probably did it around 30-40 times over the course of a few hours. she looked so proud to be able to do it by herself. We played some games too, which she likes, but they're all for older kids so she needs quite a bit of help. They have a ton of cool ride on machines too, but she won't even try them. She is also a big fan of the ticket munching machine, where you put in the tickets you've won and it spits out a receipt saying how many you put in. By the time Hava is old enough to understand redeeming them, we should have a decent amount saved up.
I guess that's about it that's happening with us. I've been busy working on ebay stuiff every chance I get ... dreaming of the day I am finally caught up, and not constantly behind. We're looking forward to going to New York, and looking forward to some warmer weather.
I almost forgot ... Our only bad/disturbing news .... yesterday when we went to leave for chucky cheese, we went into our garage and found one of the back windows to the cruiser smashed in. So not only are we going to have to pay almost $200 to have it repaired ... but it's pretty creepy that someone was in our backyard and garage messing around. The lock on the door to the garage has been broke for years ... but you actually have to go along the side of our house and into the backyard to access it, so it hasn't been a big concern. So we're working on getting that fixed, and Steve bought some chains and locks tonight to secure our grill, so they don't come back for that.
The weird thing is .. they didn't take anything or try and bust into the sterring column at all. Items they didn't take include a car stereo, cd's, 2 dvd rentals that needed to be returned, a car seat and stroller ... and of course the car itself. We have no idea why ... maybe they were disturbed?
This summer we're hoping to get a gate on the side of our house with a lock so that people can't get into our backyard... at least not without climbing fences. |

Update: I'm a little bit afraid to talk about how well things seem to be going for fear of being premature and being prooven wrong in the near future ... but things feel like they are getting back to normal. We haven't had labs done for almost 2 weeks now, but she gets them done on thursday so we'll see for sure then. Our really good news though, is that Havalah has got rid of her Ng tube! i think it was last friday... i went to hook her up in the morning and she said " no mommy, Hava drink berry milk" so we gave it a try and although we have to really keep on ehr about it, she is drinking 2 cans of pediasure a day. We flavor it with strawberry and give her 4 ounces, 4 times a day. Sometimes we have to stop her tv program until she drinks some more, or even threaten to put the tube back in ... but she's drank what she needed to ... for 4-5 days in a row now! I love not having the tube! In general she has been doing great! She's talking a lot more now, and singing along with tv show themes. Dora has been quickly and suddenly replaced with her new favorite The Wonder Pets. it's an operetta for toddlers. The music get stuck in my head and plays over and over .... it drives me crazy, but for Steve it's almost intolerable.
I took some pictures of Havalah today in fleece hats that my mom made that iwill be selling in my ebay store. the pictures turned out pretty cute!
