Hello!
Sorry it's been so long since we updated. there have been relatively few changes. The biggest thing for us has been that we switched to a new formula (peptemen jr) about 4-5 weeks ago and it is working out really well for us. We have had significant weight gain (over 2 pounds) and Havalah has not vomited a single time since we started it, and we are also able to increase the rate by which she gets the formula through her tube, which means less time hooked up. With the old formula everytime we tried to increase the rate it was result in throwing up. We had Havalah's 18 month well check up today and she got her last immunization for a few years (yay!) According to the pediatrician's scale Havalah now weighs 21 pounds and 6 oz which puts her in the 10th percentile for weight. That is the highest she has been on the growth chart ever. She is at almost 50% for height and head size.
Havalah has also started taking rifampin to help with her itchness. the good news is that despite the long list of potential side effects we have not noticed any adverse reactions, the bad news is it doesn't seem to be making much of a difference in her itchiness. She's only been on it for just over a week though so we are giving it some time. her latest labs (dec 7th) are as follows :
total bili 9.4,direct bili 4.7, AST 131, ALT 96, Alkaline phosphatase 232, Albumin 4.4, cholesterol 547, PT 131, INR 1.15, WBC 7.8
We also had a liver ultrasound last week because we though her belly was looking a little bigger. There were no changes from her last ultrasound though, no ascites, and her liver was enlarged but no bigger than before.
I hope everyone has a great time over the holidays. We will be spending christmas eve and christmas day in green bay with family. We attempted Hannukah this year as well. We lit the candles in the Menorah but I don't know the proper blessings yet, and we exchanged gifts. Havalah now thinks anything wrapped in pretty paper is hers and needs to be opened immediately. Steve had the oil anged and a part recall taken care of at the auto dealership and Havalah saw fake presents under the tree and became very upset when she wasn't allowed to open them. She continues to love playing with her fisher price little people and paging through books, and her new favorite tv show is sesame street. She has thankfully started preferring sesame street to the teletubbies.
